As she sits alone on the bank with fishing rod in hand her mind drifts back to the summer’s spent packing up the pick-up truck and boat for a few days of escape.
Escape meant the strong man she is a caregiver for now (caregiver-of-a-strong-man) was able to clear his mind of un-shared troubles that life through his way each day. Also she could clear her mind and reorganize the changes she may need to accomplish. During the two hour drive down to the Escape they would debate over his classic rock and her country music.
Upon arrival to the cabin; his number one thing to do was make the room cold enough she would need an Eskimo coat to survive the stay. Although her number one thing to do was to set up the kitchen; her mind raced of ways to get him on the boat tonight before dark.
Stay tuned to see if she gets them underway and which seat is her favorite.
Music has always been in my life… My earliest memories reach back to about age 6. The above video really covers just about everything I knew growing up.
Old Country and Old Rock and Roll!! I can hear Loretta Lynn or Donna Fargo and picture my mom cleaning house…She’s German so the house was always in shape. If I hear Sandy Posey or Tammy Wynette…I think about mom being mad at dad.
Speaking of dad…Yeah Jonny Cash and Meryl Haggard bring back found memories but Marty Robbin’s song ” My women, My women, My wife” Always sends chills down my spine…that is a song dad would dance with my mom every time they were dancing.
Is Hospitality a thing of the past? I imagine if you are in your midlife years you have wondered this question once or twice. I can not give precise answers just an opinion based on the younger generations I deal with day to day and year to year.
Based on most of them My honest opinion is that they are loosing that part of what other generations haveconsidered Hospitality. I ask again is hospitality a thing of the past?
Do you remember coming to Grandma’s for Christmas and snatching some Christmas Fudge off dessert tables? Do you remember Sunday Family Dinners with Fried Chicken, mashed potatoes, gravy, corn on the cob and of course biscuits? That is hospitality to someone in my generation.
Today’s younger generation’s say there is no time for home cooking and house cleaning. Life is to fast pace and full of gadgets. A reminder this is just one person’s opinion but as a Mom and A Grandma…I enjoy my visits better if I feel welcomed and the place is full of warmth and hospitality.
So do you think Hospitality is a thing of the Past?
Are you married? Have you ever noticed how your dominate color reveals who you are in the world? Look at the picture above. Gray wolf surrounded by a type of red leafs. That is defiantly Two very different color wheels. This Caregiver and her Spouse are These two very different color wheels.
Well the blog is a year old now!! For the past month though this writer has been disappointed and discouraged due to nothing more than technology. The main computer that I do everything on decided out of the blue that the keyboard would no longer function although all system test say everything is fine. I actually tried using a Bluetooth keyboard and that caused more frustration than it was worth..Ha Ha. Anyway I am up and running again on a different device.
Well lots of updates ahead….the Cozy Condo is about to get French Doors leading to the deck in June! Spring Cleaning has brought a whole new decor design and Our only grandchild has graduated from preschool and is on his way to the life adventure of education, Which of course leads to a new Grandparent page and this Nana starting up scrap-booking once again!!
Well that is a little catch-up on me…leave some comments below as to how Midlife is going? As always thank you for following and I’ll catch up on your posts as quick as time allows!!
There is an old saying, ” life is to short for________.” Well this could cover a multitude of things, I would like to express my opinion on four things this woman views as meaningless waste of time. This is OF course just one woman’s view. I apologize right up front if this post offends your point of view. These four things consist of: Gossip, Horoscopes, Reality Shows and the drama of social networking.
Gossip we are warned in the Bible to stay away from people who gossip and guard our words when we speak. Even if you do not believe in or read the Bible these are wise words. Why would you want to spread things you know nothing about; about a neighbor OR worse have someone do the same thing about you. This in my opinion includes gossip magazines…why spend hard earned money to read something about a person you actually know nothing about?
Horoscopes, I personally don’t even read them, again rather your a believer in God or not you and no one else are able to predict the future. Each person has a uniqueness about them and some days the choices you make affect the outcome. Again this is my opinion of meaningless things life is to short to worry over.
Reality Shows, first of all there are too many of these drama filled shows that keeps people on the couch each and every day. Whatever happened to living real life? Playing and laughing with kids and grandchildren. We all complain about taking a vacation from the job or AT least getting home for the weekend then we give our time to other people’s drama.
Last but not least is social networking. How do you use it these days compared to when you first signed up? I used to use it very rarely..actually people use to say I needed to post more. Now I use it for corresponding with blogs and my followers. I have met interesting people over past year through my blog but as soon as swimming and fishing and outdoor activities begin I can go days without even thinking about the drama on social networking. I have a phone and if it’s important it will ring.
In conclusion these are just one woman’s opinions about meaningless things that life is to short to worry over. Feedback is always welcome, please respect I am an individual with opinions just as I will return the same respect to you. Speak Out
