Music in my life

Music has always been in my life… My earliest memories reach back to about age 6.  The above video really covers just about everything I knew growing up.

Old Country and Old Rock and Roll!!  I can hear Loretta Lynn or Donna Fargo and picture my mom cleaning house…She’s German so the house was always in shape.   If I hear Sandy Posey or Tammy Wynette…I think about mom being mad at dad.

Speaking of dad…Yeah Jonny Cash and Meryl Haggard bring back found memories but Marty Robbin’s song ” My women, My women, My wife” Always sends chills down my spine…that is a song dad would dance with my mom every time they were dancing.

Remodeling in Midlife

Making modifications’ to a home anytime of life is scary to say the least. If your fifty years old or older thoughts are racing through your mind of is this my last chance to make changes? Do I have the resources to handle what goes wrong?

This Midlife couple is attempting to live with those thoughts while making modifications’ to two properties. Yes you read that correctly. Two.     We downsized from the home we raised our family in…to the cozy condo; because of his health.  He foolishly rented that homestead to a relative for three years and needless to say received it back in an unsellable condition. Now She and the adult kids along with him have agreed it is no longer their home and She will not spend her remaining years on earth after he passes alone in solitarily confinement.

Currently today the third day of June….the roof of the homestead is being completed. In about another week French doors get installed in cozy condo. Yep if your in your Midlife years you might be holding your breath…You are definitely NOT Alone.  Stay tuned for adventures of Remodeling in Midlife.

Is Hospitality a thing of the past?

Word of the day posts

Grandma’s Christmas Fudge

Is Hospitality a thing of the past? I imagine if you are in your midlife years you have wondered this question once or twice.   I can not give precise answers just an opinion based on the younger generations I deal with day to day and year to year.

Based on most of them My honest opinion is that they are loosing that part of what other generations have considered Hospitality. I ask again is hospitality a thing of the past?

Do you remember coming to Grandma’s for Christmas and snatching some Christmas Fudge off dessert tables? imag0184Do you remember Sunday Family Dinners with Fried Chicken, mashed potatoes, gravy, corn on the cob and of course biscuits? That is hospitality to someone in my generation.

Today’s younger generation’s say there is no time for home cooking and house cleaning. Life is to fast pace and full of gadgets.  A reminder this is just one person’s opinion but as a Mom and A Grandma…I enjoy my visits better if I feel welcomed and the place is full of warmth and hospitality.

So do you think Hospitality is a thing of the Past?

A Disheartened Writer

Good Morning from Missouri!

Well the blog is a year old now!! For the past month though this writer has been disappointed and discouraged due to nothing more than technology. The main computer that I do everything on decided out of the blue that the keyboard would no longer function although all system test say everything is fine.  I actually tried using a Bluetooth keyboard and that caused more frustration than it was worth..Ha Ha.  Anyway I am up and running again on a different device.

Well lots of updates ahead….the Cozy Condo is about to get French Doors leading to the deck in June! Spring Cleaning has brought a whole new decor design and Our only grandchild has graduated from preschool and is on his way to the life adventure of education,  Which of course leads to a new Grandparent page and this Nana starting up scrap-booking once again!!

Well that is a little catch-up on me…leave some comments below as to how Midlife is going? As always thank you for following and I’ll catch up on your posts as quick as time allows!!

Sharing the Love Challenge!

So with November fast approaching and enjoying  this adventure of blogging and the blogs I have had a pleasure to discover and read, I would like to Challenge my followers to share the Love for November!

The Challenge is to Share 5 favorite blogs that you read and possibly either the first blog post that caught your attention or like on one new favorite of mine, a blog that clears up a curiosity. Please add links if possible.

The first blog that I ever subscribed to the email list was,

I was looking for Ideas to help with a small apartment and came across this post,

I am not a single women, so not all the ideas worked but this blog always offers some kind of hint I can find useful.

The second blog I came across and followed was,

She walked me through how to begin to blog and I always find helpful tips on her site as well.

The next one I found while exploring the daily prompt site and I feel in love with the following blog post under friendship.
Tea for Two and Two for Tea

The next one I also found through other bloggers and I look forward to new posts each week. Variety here is a Spice of Life.

Now last but not lease, This next blog I actually came across through twitter while doing something I truly enjoy doing, Encouraging People. Hunters and Outdoor activities have always been a part of my life, Dad took us camping from the time we three kids could walk and yes I bait my own hook because dad said it was a part of the adventure.  I had not realize how many hunters used twitter and I have enjoyed encouraging them the same way I would my brother, uncles and hubby’s best friend.

Hunting with Jeremy is a great blog for the men of course, but the link to this particular posts is the post that cleared up a curiosity for me. I have had a heritage card since my son was 13 years old, but just can’t handle the cold weather, so have never asked hubby to join him on hunting season.

So there is my five! Have a Great month of November Blogging!!!
